Far Eastern Krai
Far Eastern Krai or Far Eastern Territory was an administrative subdivision of the Russian Soviet Socialist Republic during 1926-1938.
The terms may also informally refer to Russian Far East.
==History==
After the abolition of the buffer state of Far Eastern Republic in 1922 the Far Eastern Area was established with capital Chita (since 1924 the capital was Khabarovsk), which included the lands of FER and Amurskaya, Transbaikalskaya, Kamchatskaya, Priamurskaya, Primorskaya (with northern part of Sakhalin island) guberniyas (provinces). It also had right of way by the Chinese Eastern Railway. 〔(A brief history of the Khabarovsk Krai ), a webpage of the Ministry of Economic Development and Foreign Relations of Khabarovsk Krai〕 Geographically, it was an easternmost area of Asian Russia, bounded by the Arctic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean (Sea of Okhotsk and Sea of Japan), and by China.
In 1926 the division of RSFSR in guberniyas was abolished, and the Far Eastern Area was reorganized into the Far Eastern Krai with Amurski, Vladivostokski, Zeiski, Kamchatski, Nikolaevski, Sakhalinski, Sretenski, Khabarovski, Chitinski districts.〔
On October 20, 1938 the Far Eastern Krai was subdivided into the Khabarovsk Krai and Primorski Krai.〔
